Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous. Psalm 33:1a
Father, I come before You this morning to claim the righteous you offer in Jesus Christ. I cannot comprehend sinless perfection, life without error, purity of heart and mind. Yet Your righteousness is described in terms of perfection and purity, and this is the righteousness You offer me. Your righteousness—not an imitation, but Your own righteousness! I want this righteousness. I hunger and thirst for You—Your mind, Your desires, Your goodness. Truly God is good to the upright, to those who are pure in heart. But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled; my steps had nearly slipped. For I was envious of the arrogant; I saw the prosperity of the wicked. Psalm 73:1-3
I do not have to stumble. I do not have to envy. I do not have to covet. I can claim the victory today! Whatever the situation, I can claim Your victory over sin. Your righteousness is mine in Jesus, and He indwells me through Your Holy Spirit. Your righteousness not only covers me, but it dwells within me!
No other god or lord ever offered so great a gift as this, because they are impotent! You alone are perfection. You alone can change my desires. How awesome You are! I humbly open myself to Your Cleansing Spirit in my life this day. I ask that You open my eyes to see Your work. Open my ears to hear Your voice.
