I discovered long ago the power of the mind to compartmentalize what we want to know and what we want to see, apart from those things we refuse to believe and refuse to see. We can’t accuse others of not seeing–since we can’t see either. We want others to see what we see. We want others to feel what we feel. We want others to be enraged when we are enraged. We want others to forgive when we forgive. We seldom let go of our personal bias to see the truth–even when it is as visible as a red bird sitting in a winter tree.
